The NEGT Cup kicks off in 2024
5 rounds of racing + The 10 Hours of Watkins Glen
For advanced drivers new or returning to wheel to wheel racing, the Northeast GT Race School helps drivers make the transition from HPDEs and time trials to full wheel-to-wheel.
Drivers who successfully complete the race school may compete in the NEGT Cup race(s) that round. Rounds 0 – 5 will each offer a 1-day GT Race School, held on the first day of each event.
1-day race school with the purpose of guiding drivers towards a clean first race:
Classroom sessions
Paddock/pit lane hands-on demonstrations
On-track open passing, exercises, and drills
All building progressively throughout the day towards a graduation race
Open to advanced drivers (i.e., already promoted to fastest run group, time trial, and/or instructor status)
All vehicles must be production car based and prepared for wheel-to-wheel racing
200tw or higher tires only
Factory rated power-to-weight based ratios:
7 : 1 Super Cup
10 : 1 GT Cup
14 : 1 Sunday Cup
Power to weight ratios are otherwise Modified based on: vehicle age, major engine modifications, drivetrain layout, transmission, differential, suspension, tire width, and aero.
Round 0 @ Canaan, March 30-31: both days are “Day 1” featuring GT Race School and open timed practice (qualifying does not count towards a race); no NEGT Cup races.
Rounds 1 – 5 will feature single class racing with open practice/early qualifying on day 1, a 2-hour race on day 2, and another 2-hour race on day 3. Each race scored separately. Finally, the Round 6 winner-take-all Championship is a 10-hour race at Watkins Glen with a Friday practice/qualifying followed by a 10hr multi-class race into the evening on Saturday.
