Welcome to NEGT

Northeast GT 2.0
Here is a series, format summary, followed by a rules brief, and our 2025 calendar below.

Real Clean Racing | Real, tough and fair racing can be had without contact.  We want this to be a no-contact series.  Racing room + a tire width must be left, always.  No Hail Marys, always respect your fellow competitors.

Inclusive | Our mission, beyond good clean racing, is to be as inclusive as possible to driver, car and team while maintaining the quality of said racing.

2 Hour Races | The races will be 2 hours each, with 2 required 5 minute pitstops each race.

Into the Night | All official 2025 races will start in the daylight, then run through dusk and into the early night, under the lights.

8 Race Championship | 4 rounds, 8 races, driver and team championships.  Best 5 individual races count (up to 3 drops).

1-3 Driver Teams | The race format is designed for 1-3 drivers.  Driver changes are not required, but the two required pit stops are.

GT Relay Teams | Drivers with cars in the same GT Cup class or in Bracket GT will be able to team up in a relay race type format, changing not just drivers, but car and driver on pit stops.  More on this new concept soon!

GT Race School | This program offers a racing curriculum that spans the classroom, paddock/pit-lane, and on-track with the purpose of preparing them to compete in our series. Experienced track day drivers and new or old racers alike are welcome to participate.

GT Practice | Practice and testing will be available at each event for drivers and cars to get up to speed.

Event Pricing | Friday races will be $299, Saturday races are $349. Two hours of practice and testing will be available each day, as an addon for those who want it, also for $299 and $349 respectively. All race and practice entry fees are per car. Race Schools are $399.

Crew and Spectators | Family, friends and spectators are welcome! There are no extra fees for memberships, crew or spectators.

GT Cup: Power to Weight Based Classing | Your car’s minimum competition weight will be based on a formula using your car’s OEM horsepower, torque and a cumulative modifier percentage.  Our GT Cup modifiers are based on vehicle age, drivetrain and suspension layouts, engine modifications, tire type and width, differential, transmission, suspension updates, aero and so on.  Our classes and their modified P/W ratios are coming soon.  Currently we are gathering data to help us chose ratios to allow the most cars to fit without making large changes.  Purpose built racecar classing will be handled on a case by case basis to ensure parity.

Bracket GT: Bracket Style, Performance Based Classing | In this low stress, run what you brung system, your team’s lap times in your car will determine your bracket.  Your team’s bracket will determine your handicap and allow all bracket classed cars to all compete against each other, without any cars being trapped between classes or running away with a class.  This category rewards good race craft and consistent driving over being all out fast.

Rules Summary
Complete updated rulebook to soon follow.

Production Vehicles and More | Any production vehicle of any year that is sold in any market.  Purpose built racecars within our performance window are welcome.

Prepared | All vehicles participating in Northeast GT wheel-to-wheel sessions, including the Northeast GT Race School, must be fully prepared for wheel-to-wheel racing.  This includes: a full to spec roll cage, fire system, master switch, in-date harnesses/seat/window net, etc. Headlights and taillights too please.

Licensed or Experienced Drivers | Drivers need either a competition license or must have recent wheel-to-wheel experience. For those needing to level up or brush up to be eligible, we offer the GT Race School to help drivers new to, or returning to, wheel-to-wheel have a fun, clean and confident racing experience with us.

Tires | Unrestricted, with modifiers applying for GT Cup to level the playing field.

Engines | Internals are unrestricted, with modifiers applying for GT Cup.

Forced Induction | Cars running forced induction are welcome to compete in all our races in our performance based Bracket GT category, but are not currently eligible for our power to weight based GT Cup category. Given all the variables involved in predicting, limiting and policing the power potential of forced induction builds, we decided to just welcome them into Bracket GT for 2025, where horsepower doesn’t matter, only on-track performance (lap times).

Detuned and Restricted Engines | We are gathering data and assessing a good way to allow and account for the use of intake restrictors in our GT Cup category. Currently we are considering intake restricted cars with an established performance level for GT Cup on a case by case basis and they are always welcome as is in Bracket GT. Cars detuned electronically are suggested to run in our Bracket GT category as well, as they would be classed in GT Cup using their full OEM rated power, torque and all related modifiers.

Body, Chassis and Suspension | Largely open, with modifiers applying for GT Cup.

Fueling/Pit Lane | 5 minute pit stops (in to out).   One wheel gun, torque wrench, jack and extra wheel/tire over the wall at a time. No fuel rigs, no jugs over 5 gallons. No more than 10 gallons per stop.

Safety Gear | Driver and fueling crew safety gear: SA 2015 or newer helmet, FIA or SFI rated; fire suit, gloves and shoes, HNR for drivers and balaclava(required for fueling crew, recommended for all).

Flagtronics | Each car will be required to have a Flagtronics FT200.  This will support our drive for clean racing as well as our into night endurance theme, including pit stop timing.  We will have them available to rent.

GT Cup Calculator
For those interested in our power to weight based GT Cup category.

If you are interested in power to weight based classing, click here to see how your car “ranks” in our NEGT Cup classing system. Fill out the dropdowns and required info, then the tool generates your car’s adjusted Northeast GT Cup power to weight ratio. This information will be used to help us select our class ratios.

Think of this ratio as your overall performance number or score, with a lower number being faster, as handling mods make your car perform better too.

A higher number will mean a slower class, a lower number will mean a faster class. More modification points to a car, even those not related to engine power, has the same effect as more power or less weight, and results in a lower ratio. More weight or less mod points will then do the opposite and give a higher ratio.
